I am Reinette van Reenen, and I want to share some of the wonderful things that make up my life!
First of all I want to thank Abba Father, EL-SHADDAI, the Creator of heaven and earth, for everything I am, the awesome path He has taken me on and that He started this journey with me, that He never gave up on me. I became a born-again Christian in 2006 and all I can say is it has been an AWESOME journey!! My favourite saying is: "God loves you just the way you are, but he loves you too much to leave you that way" and I am happy to say that He is still busy with the good work that He started in me!
Miniature Schnauzers are one of my passions and I have been involved in the breed for the past 16 years. Actually, it used to be an obsession and I had to learn in my walk with God that I needed balance in my life. It used to be all about me and my abilities but I have realised that there is only One who should get all the honour for giving me the talent to groom!
My interest in Miniature Schnauzers started in 1994 when, as a first year Veterinary Nurse studying at Onderstepoort, we had to do an assignment on a breed of dog or cat that we liked. I contacted a breeder of Miniature Schnauzers who kindly helped me with my assignment (for which we got 92%!) and as they say in the classics: the rest is history and I want to say Thank You, for everything!
Brenda Fortes of Brenfor Miniature Schnauzers has been part of my life for the past 13 years. I have helped her groom and show her lovely dogs and we have become great friends in the process! Thank you Brenda for all your support through thick and thin:-) Brenda first 3 homebred champions (Ch Brenfor Don't Ask Me Why, Ch Brenfor Ragz To Riches and Ch* Brenfor Night Rider) finished in 2010 and in October 2011 she finished her exciting young bitch called Ch Brenfor Just Because (Tayla) who did so well as a puppy and also as a junior that year! I am so looking forward to seeing her new puppy Brenfor Its No Secret (Karla) and how she progresses in 2012! YOU GO GIRL!!
For the last few years I have been helping Francois Spangenberg (Keystone) with the Keystone breeding program, grooming and showing periodically. It has been great fun being friends with Francois and he is so full of wisdom about life, it is just amazing :-)) We do the "photo shoot" thing every so often and you will see quite a number of those fun shots on Keystone, Brenfor and this site :-) Showing with Francois is sooooooooooooooo much fun because it is more like a picnic than all the serious stuff you would expect :-D He always whips up the most amazing sarmies (unless he manages to persuade Brenda to try her hand at creating some gourmet meals!) and it is a very chilled and relaxing atmosphere - his motto: enjoy the day, enjoy the people, love the dogs, and have FUN!
Another very special person whom I also met through Mini Schnauzers is Louise Thompson. If you want to see tenacity you must see this lady operate :-)) She has owned Minis for many years and about 5 years ago decided to try her hand at showing and carting. Lilly was her first little "person" and Louise decided to start carting with her and you must see those two go! Lilly is recently finished her requirements for Carting Champion and Breed Champion, WELL DONE GUYS!! They are currently trying their hands and paws at obedience and it is sooo funny to hear the reports after the weekend :-) Louise recently acquired a young Black and Silver called Zooty - Ch* Brenfor's Dark Moon- and they have had a lot of fun in the breed ring finishing Zooty as a champion in April 2012 and they are now trying out Agility! I take my hat off to Louise for rolling both Lilly and Zooty's coats and winning with that enormous job, you have a lot of patience lady :-)
And we also have Pixie Mitchley who is our constant supporter, she spoils the kids to pieces and adds to the general well being of everybody on the show day, thanks Pixie!!
In all the years that I have been involved in Mini Schnauzers I have had the honour of working with dogs from people like John Constantine (Adamis); Vera van Wassenhove (Art Deco), Barbara Fraile (De Trufas Negras); Shawne Timlin-Imler (Ernhardt), Rachael Hoffman (Earthsong) , Kate McMillan (Minuteman); Bev Verna (Regency); Tania Kidd (Tadesca Miniature Schnauzers & Mini Magazine), Mr Lee, Sunny and Julie (Wild Rush); and and it has been great to be involved with their dogs and also the Mini Magazine!
